Insect Overview

The Eucalyptus Borer is a destructive insect that primarily targets eucalyptus trees. The larvae of this beetle bore into the trunk and branches of the tree, causing significant damage by disrupting the tree's vascular system. This infestation can weaken the tree, making it more susceptible to other diseases and pests.

Eucalyptus Borers typically attack trees that are already stressed by environmental factors such as drought or improper care. The beetles are most active during the warm months, and the larvae feed deep inside the tree’s wood, creating tunnels and leading to the eventual decline of the tree if untreated.

Timely treatment and monitoring are critical to prevent serious damage. If left unchecked, the infestation can cause irreversible harm to the tree, leading to dieback and potential tree death.

Symptoms

  • Visible exit holes and sap flow on the trunk.
  • Weakened tree health with reduced foliage.
  • Discolored or dead patches of bark.

Recommended Treatment

Apply Vivid-II as a treatment to control Eucalyptus Borer infestations. Follow the application instructions for proper dosage and timing, ideally during early spring when the borers are actively feeding.

Treated Species

Many tree species may be affected by Eucalyptus Borer Treatment Guide. However, Vivid II is only approved for use on the following trees per the EPA product label.

  • Ornamental Trees (including forest, ornamental, non-crop-bearing trees, and woody shrubs)
